An invasive South American ant whose painful stings have ruined more Leonida picnics than any other animal.
The Red Imported Fire Ant is one of Leonida's most widespread invasive species, forming aggressive colonies in every lawn, park, and agricultural field. Their coordinated stinging attacks can be medically serious for the allergic or the very young.
